Through the transformative powers of painting, ceramics, papier-Mache, and needle felting, I create captivating three-dimensional pieces that blur the boundaries between sculptures and paintings. By skillfully combining these diverse elements, I strive to create cohesive 3D paintings and installations that push the boundaries of artistic expression.  In my artistic practice, I find that the formal elements of composition take on a whole new level of complexity when working with dimensions and an array of mediums. This complexity fuels my curiosity and prompts me to pose thought-provoking questions.

For instance, what’s on the backside of a dimensional painting? How can I relate three-dimensional forms like ceramics, papier-mache back to a painting – or how can they stand on their own as three-dimensional paintings?  How does a three-dimensional painting conform, obscure, or transform the space it occupies? The questions I ask myself while making work are endless and the answers are limitless.

Beyond technique and medium, my artistic journey is influenced by many other artists and the spirit of the Funk Art movement of the 1960s. This movement, derived from the jazz term "funky," embodied a passionate, sensuous, and quirky approach to art. Funk artists were not concerned with public morality but rather focused on personal expression and connection with their works. Drawing inspiration from Funk Art, I infuse my pieces with humor, absurdity, and a refusal to take art or oneself too seriously and to embrace risk.
